Wicked

The composer and lyricist who created the musical’s songs is multi-Grammy and Academy Award-winner Stephen Schwartz. He was also the individual behind the earworms in Disney’s Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Prince of Egypt. While the dramatic ‘Defying Gravity’ is the most famous song in WICKED the musical, the song that touched us the most was Elphaba’s emotional rendition of ‘No Good Deed’. It springs from her distress and rage at how her efforts to do the right thing keep being thwarted, a feeling that many children can surely associate with. And once your kids have heard it, Glinda’s cheery ‘Popular’ may well overtake ‘Let It Go’ from Disney’s Frozen as the song of the season. So bring the family and come and see some incredible music at the Gershwin Theatre in New York.

What does it take to be branded as wicked forever? Categorically, there's a story behind it. We all know that the wicked witch of the west was Dorothy's foe; but before all that, she was a misunderstood teenage witch named Elphaba. An ordinary teen who formed an uncommon bond of friendship with the blond teen witch Galinda -- a friendship that reached a crossroad that took a turn on their lives and destinies. That's "Wicked"! Indeed, this is a spin-off from “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” and is based on the 1995 Gregory Maguire novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.” Wicked is a Broadway stage musical, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Winnie Holzman. It may be witchcraft and wizardry, but Wicked has cast a enchanting spell on critics and audiences alike. Collecting ten Tony Award nominations and four Olivier Award nominations, the original Broadway musical productionmanaged to win three Tony Awards and seven Drama Desk Awards, along with Grammy Award for the original cast album, to boot. Music, magic, marvelousness all rolled into one. Don't miss Wicked as it hits the stage of the Gershwin Theatre in New York, New York on Tuesday 28th May 2024. Reserve your tickets now!
